Why Local Governance Matters

When we talk about government, we often think of what’s happening in Washington or Sacramento.
But local governance — right here in San Clemente — is where the decisions that touch our daily lives truly begin.
Think about it:
Save Our Beaches — protecting the coastline that defines who we are.
Save Our Hospital — ensuring that emergency care remains local and accessible.
Goats making San Clemente safer? Yes — goats! They help with fire prevention by clearing our open spaces.
The 2028 Summer Olympics will feature surfing right here in San Clemente — how exciting is that?
Tree City USA and our updated Climate Plan remind us that environmental stewardship is part of our identity.
These are the kinds of issues that make our community safer, healthier, and richer in quality of life.
Local governance brings communities together. It gives each of us the chance to have our voices heard — that’s powerful.
Get to know your City Council and City staff — they work for you.
And remember, we have local elections every two years. In 2026, we’ll elect a Governor, a member of Congress, and right here in San Clemente — two City Council members and a Mayor.
Later this month, I’ll be launching my campaign for San Clemente City Council.
So, why am I running?
Because my life has been about service to others.
I want to serve, honor, and respect the people who call San Clemente home.
I care deeply about environmental stewardship — clean energy choices, protecting and replenishing our beaches, safely removing nuclear waste at San Onofre, planting trees, and reducing carbon emissions.
In the next four years, our city will be working with state and federal partners on these critical issues. I want to have a seat at the table — with a vote — to advocate for a healthier, sustainable world for future generations.
I believe in community-centered leadership — listening, respecting, finding consensus, and taking responsible action.
Let’s travel this road together — and build a stronger, safer, and more sustainable San Clemente for all of us.
